I’m really excited about this book. Some months ago, author Steven Biggs wandered into Culinarium and asked if we might like to sell his book. His timing was great as we’d just that week picked up our first shipment of Urban Harvest’s Organic Seeds. I’m not much of a gardener, so I had no idea how to tell a good book from a bad one, but since he’s a fellow writer for Edible Toronto Magazine, I figured his book had to be okay. So on to the shelf it went. And on that shelf it stayed for several weeks, until my in-laws, God lov’em, dug me a garden at my new home. Coming from a condo, I’ve never had dirt to play in, so I thought I best do a little research.
And there on the shelf, this crazy looking little book began to call to me. I brought it home one night, thinking I’d flip through it, maybe look at the pictures and get a little inspiration. A few hours later I was on chapter seven and my husband had long ago given up on a homemade dinner and ordered in nourishment.
I love this book. It has turned me from a scared-e-cat intimidated novice gardener into a fun loving, adventurous, confident novice gardener. A transformation that only took a few weeks, some seed, a few new tools, and a pair of gloves!
